 "Samsung E-800" 2005-03-02
By John Kimble (N. Ireland)
I love this little phone. Its compact, streamlined, loaded with features and of course it looks good to!

Initially I was a little worried that the sliding mechanism would mean that it wasn't as sturdy as my old phone, but I was wrong! It moves very smoothly gliding up and down and locking into position. This little thing is as solid as they come

It has plenty of features and you'll enjoy playing around with its user-friendly interface. The tones are as clear as a bell and of course you can download more. The camera is brilliant! I nearly blinded my unsuspecting girlfriend with the flash, so you might want to warn any potential victims! The camera also has a multi-shot function and loads of other options, with the image produced being of very high quality. As you'd expect, you can assign ring tones and photos to certain people, send multi-media messages, play and download some great games as well as surf the net via WAP, not to mention all the features outlined in the spec.
However there is no video feature on this phone, but I didn't miss it.

I've found the Samsung E-800 to be a big step up from 'the brick' of a phone I used to own. It's compact, but with a good sized memory. It's simple and fun to use, easy to text with, omitting a clear sound and giving good battery life. Indeed another important bonus factor for me was that it is strong enough to take the occasional dropping, unlike a lot of other phones these days that just smash to bits on impact.

I'd definitely recommend this phone to anyone

 "Samusng Review E800" 2004-08-07
By
The weight is 86 grams that is typical for modern phones. The screen's resolution is 128x160 pixels, this allows displaying up to 5 text lines and up to 3 service text lines. The font's size is standard for Samsung's phones, it is pretty big and nicely readable. You can work with this phone even when it is closed, you just have to unlock the keyboard. It is convenient to see the call lists and read SMS messages when the phone is closed.

The battery plays the role of back cover for the phone, it does not have backlash. The capacity of Li-Ion battery is 700mAh, according to the manufacturer it can work up to 160 hours in stand by mode and up to 3.5 hours when you are actually talking on the phone.

The phone has about 20mb of memory, which can be used for storing your data: photos, MMS messages, ring tones and games.

Alround a fab phone, gets my thumbs up!

"Looks good, but not that great" 2007-02-22
By C. A. Rodger (UK)
After getting this phone, I wouldn't get a Samsung again. Yes, the camera is good but if you use your phone mainly for calls and texts then it could be better. I can hardly hear people speaking when I use the phone, and they always complain that they can hardly hear me (tried to adjust the volume and it ain't working!). The text navigation is not very intuitive, it takes much longer to write a text than with, say, a Nokia. Plus you don't have a "send to many" option on texts. Finally if you want to use your mobile phone as an alarm then you have to keep it switched on all night, whereas with Nokia's you can switch if off, then it will switch back on at the alarm time.

Verdict - does the job, but not as well as a Nokia

"first class phone with great gadgets" 2006-03-10

This neat little phone is so great to have and show off, I can't imagine not having it any more!

As being a 14 year old girl I wanted a pretty phone and have seen all my friends, had a laugh with the camera etc so I know what a lot of phones are like. This is my second phone, after having a trusty 3410 which lasted me nearly 4 years, and was still in perfect working condition- its just my dads phone came off contract so I recieved his, which had loads of photos and stuff I had taken on it anyway.

Lets start with the high quality polyphonic ringtones, my dad managed to find the relaxed "good morning" for his business meetings and I found "vacation" which is perfect for shopping and stuff. They are easy to hear and with a wide selection there shoul be no problem finding one you like.

The camera/video recorder is amazing for a phone, everyone comments on the crystal clear photos, and the capacity. I have taken over 40 photos but hav only 746 out of the 5120KB space!

The organiser is something I don't use mostly but I have put a few friends birthdays in it and frquently put reminders such as "give lovely daughter raise in pocket money" when my dad was the owner and it is eacy to find your way around.

Last but not least, the games were not all that great, but I don't play on them anyway apart from the addictive "BubbleSmile" and the odd game of chess.

Highly recommended, the small clamshell design sure looks gd in a pink handbag!

bought this as my 5th mobile phone (previously used nokias) and it takes a little time to get used to the sms change between brands, but i doubt i'll ever go back to nokia after purchasing this! Its packed full of features in such a small phone, the camera quality is brilliant and the video feature is handy. The ringtones sound so clear and its easy to get more via wap and gprs.

Overall a great phone, gunna last me for ages!

 "Great Little Phone." 2005-02-03
By John Kimble (N. Ireland)
My girlfriend got me this phone for Christmas, and I love it! I'd had an old Nokia for years and for me this was a vast, vast improvement! The E600 is neat and small, but not so much that you can hardly see the screen or press the buttons, it comes with 2 batteries, one normally sized and the other streamlined, a mains adapter and a hands free kit.

The phone has a built in camera and a video recording function, with a multi shot and various other options available for the camera.
There are 2 colour display screens one internal and one external and photos can be taken with the folder closed. There are 4 games and it's easy to download more, the same goes for ring tones, which can be assigned to individual callers via the group option in the address book. The colour screen is very easy on the eye and the polyphonic ring tone is of a high quality.

I really like this phone for a lot of reasons, I love the WAP and the various options and settings available, it looks good and although it's small it's sturdy, compact and well put together. I'd recommend it to anyone.

"OK phone but has a few negatives...." 2006-10-23
By Mrs. Td Campbell
I got this phone on contract, before realising I couldnt get an Orange signal in the area I am moving to! I have read other reviews that state the signal isn't always great on this phone, so that probably adds to the problem! It's a small, easy to use phone, but one of it's drawbacks is it's ability to only hold up to 20 messages! So consequently you are constantly having to delete old messages! I have often had in the past a Nokia, and to be honest, they are in my opinion the best phones. On the plus side I like the brighlty lit digital clock and display, and use it as a clock by the side of my bed as it is so bright! The battery life is OK too.

 "Gorgeous little phone" 2006-08-29
By L. Mason (Worcester, England)
I got this on the spur of the moment when it was on special offer at 'The Link'. It's an awesome phone, with all the features you could want. I have it in blue, which I love, although I appreciate it's not quite so girly if that's soemthing that bothers you.

It was only after I got it that I realised it was a girly phone, but that's cool.

So, all in all, I'm well chuffed and would recommend this phone to anyone

 "Fabulous little phone!" 2006-05-03
By Mrs. T. (UK)
I wanted a real "girly" phone and looked around at all the models for ages. I read all the reviews on the various pink phones on many websites, and also the Amazon reviews. For this particular Samsung E530, I kept reading that many people had been disappointed by the sound quality. This almost prevented me from buying this model. However, I contacted my very knowledgeable local supplier who said yes, there was a batch of these phones that had a dodgy sound fault, but they had all been returned from his shop, and the latest ones were absolutely fine. And I have to say, I agree with him! A fantastic little phone, with all the girly features you could wish for! Gee, it even tells you when your "monthly" is due girls, or the best time to get pregnant, ovulation predictor etc. Comes with four games - only one real girly one though, disappointing on a girly phone Samsung! But of course you can download more. I thought that my phone would come with a USB cable to download extra stuff from the internet. I have since discovered that I have to purchase this in addition. Again, I feel Samsung could have included this as a little bonus. But overall, I would say don't worry about the negative reviews on this phone. They mostly relate to the sound, and you should have no worries on this now! I rate this a five worthy stars. I'll only replace with an equally pink or lilac girly phone in a few years time as I love it.

 "Sexy Samsung " 2006-04-17
By Acidella (UK)
So this lightweight berry coloured newbie from Samsung is especially designed for the ladies. With special menus that are fun and entertaining! Planning a new baby then type in your info and it will even tell you when the best time of the month for you to conceive! Amazing. Compile your shopping list and never be stuck again trying to remember what you should be buying!

Two screens crystal clear and crisp colours. The lid even has a small screen which you can decorate with one of your own pictures. It doesnt stay lit up mind but its a nice little glimpse of someone special each time you close the shell!

Take pictures of that lovely dress and get your mates opinion then and there! Take her with you and try it on and you can even video your own little fashion show and then go home and get others opinions before you buy!

All the usual features of sms mms and wap. Bluetooth, dual band, video recorder, camera multishot and effects. Samsungs fun box with a few games already downloaded. And mp3 tracks too. Alarm, calendar schedules stopwatch currency convertor, height weight ratio, and and abundance of other features some well most i will never even use but hey they're there if i take a fancy to this big world of technology!

Big storage memory so no more retuning the radio station just download your fave dance tunes via your pc with a data link cable and off you go. Supplied with pretty berry coloured holder and strap and jazzy light up battery charger so it tells you when its charged. Hmmm do samsung think we need to be told this!

I do have to say that when using the video and the mega pixel camera with an amazing flash! you will use up your battery quite quickly especially when using the bluetooth function which is a little annoying so get yourself a spare battery too! But that's my only complaint so far.

But lets face it girls we always have to sacrifice somethings to look good and a little phone as good an excuse as any.

"Only half of it works" 2007-02-13
By Ges Brown (Infinity & Beyond)
I've had this phone a year and I agree with all the above comments especially the bit about having all the functions but not all work well.

The Camera is the pits, Video goes off recording when it feels like it and I can't connect mine to my PC for some unknown reason. Worst of all Samsung Customer Service don't care and said to take it to the menders since mine is 2 days out of Warranty now ! (well 10 days by the time they replied to my E-mail)

 "Rubbish" 2006-11-14
By C. Houghton (Essex, England)
Don't buy this phone, its dreadful!

Problems i had during the time i used it:

1. Very short battery life, about 30 mins talk time at most!

2. Poor reception - compounded by the fact that it never seemed to ring out even when full signal was showing.

3. MP3 ringtones only sample 5 seconds of song.

4. Camera is awful

5. Movies only last 20 seconds at most.

The trouble with this phone is it has all the features of decent phone, but none of them are any ggod. The result is a bottom-range phone masquerading as a top-range one with a mid-range price banding. I'll keep it in case my SE w700 packs in, but otherwise i'd recommend you avoid it

"Had this phone about just over a year " 2008-05-07
By R. Hennessey
I've used Samsung phones for a few years now and some of the good points about past phones seem to have disappeared off the D600 and some have improved but not all. This phone is good and bad. The graphics are v amateurish like a school kid drew them so theres no style about the templates for mms & the graphics generally. Ringtones sound like Eurovision songs! Battery life is ony about 2 days now (I say 'NOW' cause it got less as the year went on) and I don't use my phone for many calls or music just for texting so hate to think how it would be if I used it for more calls instead of my landline. I Don't use it for music either so this isn't using up my battery life. Music quality is not good. Camera quality is ok but not good. On a past Samsung phone I had, there was a good diary alarm that sounded til you switched it off so it was a great diary reminder, this one just pings for a couple of seconds then end of!If you miss your reminder cause your in the loo then you miss it! I am about to try a Sony Ericsson now as the reviews are good for the Walkman range sound quality and battery life is double most other makes which is an attractive prospect. However, as with most reviews including for the D600 there are diff opinions about the same points. The Sony Ericcson upgrade I'm going for also had reviews that gave conflicting opinions and this could be the users fault i.e. can't use the phone so need to read instructions or the phones fault - u have to take a chance!! There are good points about the D600: the keypad is quick and easy to text on esp if you got big, fat fingers, the screen is big & clear, the red D600 I purchased looks good and a big plus is that its a slide phone so theres not much chance of you calling Aunt Myrtle by mistake who you havn't spoken to for 20 years cause while the phone was in your pocket you selected her contact number and now shes on the line to tell you shes been listening in on you for the past hour!!!x

"Brilliant phone, not seen one better" 2006-10-04
By P. Henson (Burton, England)
This phone is superb. The screen is large and clear, the mp3 player impressive, the camera high quality. For me the best thing about it is you can stick a 1gb memory card in it (I got one for thirty quid complete with adapter to convert it into a usb pen drive for easy transfer of files - they are probably cheaper than that now), which means you can store full length dvd's on it (once you've converted them into 3gp format using e.g. ImTOO). You can plug it into a tv or projector to view dvd's, pictures, word and powerpoint files. (The only downside to watching DVD's is if someone rings you up the film goes back to the beginning and so you have to fast forward!)

I think the only way you could possibly make this phone better is if you added a radio.

 "Very good phone" 2006-06-30
By Mr. Dj Doherty (UK)
This is a fantastic phone, its simple to use, has good customization options and has some decent extras such as the Camera and MP3 player functionability.

Having MP3's as tones is good but why not Message Tones too?!!! They seem to leave out the basics sometimes. 1 bad thing is the screen scratches easily but other than that its a phone I would recommend to anyone looking for a new phone.

"The Best Phone For Contract" 2006-05-21
By R. G. Kirby (UK)
For a non 3G phone, this is possibly the zenith of sensible design, top end features, performance and value.

I orignally intented to go back on contract with a Motorolla SLVR, but baulked at the tarriff I had to go on to get it free. However, when I looked at the D600 in the Vodafone store, I became enamoured with its 2 megapixel camera, sliding key pad, bluetooth and mp3 player amoungst other features. At £30 a month for 200 mins anytime with 250 texts included, I feel this was the phone to make use of them.

At little over 100g, it's not much heavier than my old Siemens S55, which in itself was quite a performer with Bluetooth and infrared (it was one of the first true colour mobiles back at the end of 2002.) The screen is sharp and clear in its display and reveals an easy to navigate menu, making full use of the central cursor pad. The pop up menus and status pages are clear and helpful in making my way round the phone.

Since I'm new to mp3s, I wasn't sure what to expect: however, I soon found the menu self explanatory and even found hooking up the phone to my laptop with the usb cable a simple process. Once connected, I enjoyed using the Samung PC Studio 3 software to manage my phone and move music tracks and photos to and from phone and laptop. I even enjoyed typing text messages on the laptop and sending them off through to the phone. It turns out that I have to close the messages window and open it again only when my phone receives a new mesage in order to update the list, but that's a minor niggle.

In all, this is the most sophisticated phone I've owned to date, beating a Motorolla 3G flip phone (980, I think,) although I still have that S55 as a Bluetooth buddy for the Samsung. I'm sure this phone will keep me occupied with its entertaining features for the next 18 months!
